What do they mean by, "Not just another pretty picture?"

Many firms will entice you with samples of their design illustrations promising innovative and cost effective concepts for your park, museum or entertainment center. The "dirty little secret" that these firms are not telling you is that they have no idea how to actually build what they are presenting. Worse than that, the fabricator will not know how to build it either. So you end up spending thousands of dollars on useless concept illustrations that will need to be translated into workable schematics for a hefty price in time and money.
Our concept illustrations are based on the principles of physics, engineering and feasibility, not just pretty illustrations and marketing hoopla.
Below is a concept illustration for an indoor/outdoor dark ride slated for Thailand. During their journey guests are offered choices in the quest for treasure. The outcome of the finale (pictured below) would be based on those choices during the ride. The "spirits" would then lift the boat as guests are surrounded by the symbols floating off the cave wall. The level of design paid for would have only called for a "blue sky" concept illustration but we at ADS will always deliver more than expected. The drawings below this rendering were prepared to prove the concept to ourselves before we released it to the client. This level of detail is our standard rather than the exception.

Even though you, the client, may only see a final beautiful concept drawing like the above, there are actually many more drawings and sketches produced that you probably would not see that we produce working out the feasibility, engineering  and mechanics to get to that point as shown below.

Our concepts are realistic designs that build specifications can easily be created from.

We are often told how we go above and beyond expectations. Recently a client asked us to conceptualize and design an educational ride based on the ecology that must be exciting, educational and cutting edge, as well as represent each location realistically and authentically, and this must all be accomplished for approximately $2 million in a country that taxes over 50% of everything imported! We stepped up to this challenge. Not only did we step up but we soared! So how do you take a "dry" subject such as the ecology and make it a fun, interactive dark ride experience?
  • Includes a well thought out storyline backed by extensive research. Guests must travel through time to correct eco-mistakes that have led to the current natural disaster threatening humankind. Each ride vehicle is equipped with "eco defense systems" that can be deployed while traveling to locations around the world. As passengers compete they will also be learning as they must choose the correct defense systems in the proper locations in the alloted time. Utilizing new technology to prevent eco-disasters is a developing science that may one day be a reality. This interactive ride will allow passengers to explore the possibilities of this breakthrough field of science while also learning about the ecosystems they visit during their journey.
  • This attraction features on-board physical effects. This will be the first time anyone has equipped a dark ride vehicle with effects such as these. Guests will feel the snakes at their feet. They'll hear and feel the bats fly by and they'll also squirm as the bugs crawl beneath their seats.
  • The interactive game touch screens will also add a dimension of fun not seen before in the world of dark rides. We had to develop our own software as well as a completely new show control system to make this work.
  • The finale segment will feature a large-format ultra high resolution "flying" sequence never before attempted for a ride of this scope.
  • We had to design a completely new ride system to meet the cost, safety and technical challenges.

Our client asked us to prepare a preliminary design package detailing this concept for a 4.5 minute dark ride with 10 scenes. True to our nature we came back with a 19 scene dark ride at 7.7 minutes for the same budget and charged the client 23% less for our package. That's the kind of value we consistently offer our clients..

Our client got so excited over this design package they asked us to prepare another one for a possible future expansion. This new design had to be just as exciting and fun, as well as educational. We delivered once again, this time at an even lower development budget. This concept offers riders the opportunity to battle "eco super villians" as they chase away energy wasters and reverse bad environmental stewardship. With fun characters, vibrant sets and a few surprises this interactive ride-through attraction would take "edutainment" to the next level!
