In 2007 a prominent wealthy Mexican entrepreneur contracted with Attraction Design Services to design a unique themed up-scale eatery where children and adults would not only enjoy top-notch excellent cuisine from around the world, they could also participate in state of the art high tech interactive games and parties during their visit. Such unique offerings as an automated piñata game, an interactive theater, and a digital arts and crafts area were designed to fill the exclusive open circular play space. It was our clients dream for a chain of these upscale family fun restaurants to be his legacy to his grandchildren and to the world.

In addition to the circular play area, the restaurant also offered three distinctive dining areas. Closest to the circular play area was a counter service venue where children could order their own international snacks away from the adults while still being monitored through a glass walled lounge. A large main dining area was next where parents could enjoy a meal along with their children while being entertained and visited by the restaurant’s characters, followed by an area where the adults could lounge and have a quiet meal away from the children.

Animated Characters Take Your Food Order

Attraction Design Services is always on the cutting edge infusing the newest technologies - the new restaurant would be no different.

ADS developed four character mascots for the restaurant concept. We designed a system that would enable any of the animal characters to approach a table via a window (video monitor dressed to appear as a window) as illustrated to the left. These characters could take food and drink orders and interact with the restaurant patrons in real-time.

Fly Through Worlds Of Your Own Creation

Located in the games and attractions area, the Ultimate Airship would simulate a fantasy flight through worlds created by passengers.

Riders could include secret passageways, hidden objects for others to find and add personal touches to the environments. During the ride (Right) passengers would be surrounded by three-dimensional imagery, realistic sounds and physical cues as they control their journey's path along with other interactive elements.

Restaurant patrons could take home their custom world to experience as a game on their own computer. Upon returning to the restaurant, their world would be updated and could then be enjoyed during the fly-through.

Children (Left) could color and dress their characters while their creation comes to life.

Another concept for the restaurant (Below) was to allow patrons to "doodle" a character and send him or her off into the restaurant to compete in a series of games such as racing around the walls.

The result is Pinatas Food and Fun! The first of which is slated to open within an upscale shopping district in McAllen Texas.
